My friends Justin and Teresa introduced me to the game about 8 months ago. The basic idea of yellow car is simple. You can play anywhere you are as long as you can see cars.
With a friend, group of friends, or partners spot as many yellow cars as you can. Give yourself one point for every yellow car you spot before your opponent. You must say, "yellow car" before your opponent says it.
The cars must be truly yellow, not orange or gold.
The cars must be at least 2/3's yellow.
The cars may not be used for commercial purposes i.e. no advertising on them.
Other commercial purpose vehicles include
- taxis,
- school buses,
- construction equipment i.e. bulldozers, cranes,
- tractor trailers, and
- moving vans. (Please direct questions about what is commercial purposes to the comment board).
Don't let the name "yellow car" fool you. You may count yellow trucks (not commercial), SUV's, mini vans, and motor cycles. You may not count boats.
The game begins when the first person playing calls yellow car and ends when someone playing has spotted 25 yellow cars. You must win by at least two points. So if your opponent has 23 and you have 24 and you spot a yellow car then you need one more yellow car to win. Unless you opponent scores the next yellow car.
If a couple or team is playing yellow car against another couple or team then the team must have 50 yellow cars to win. The team must still win by two points.
Want to be the champion? Be the first to find a completely yellow RV and win automatically.
